Application Rating Score: AR= (A+B+C+D)
Normalised AR score of an applicant is equal to their AR score divided by average of the top 50 AR scores from the applicants’ pool, (the applicants’ pool in this case being defined as the group of candidates who appear for CAT-2020 and apply to IIMA). The weighted average score of the entry test of the applicant (CAT or GMAT test), followed by their score in the IIM written application test and screening process.
The selection of the candidates for admission to the 2021-23 batch of the PGP at IIMA is a two-step process.
Firstly, there is a shortlisting for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI). The following is the eligibility criteria for the shortlisting.
There is a sectional cutoff for each of the three sections in the CAT exam. The QA, DILR, and VARC sections should have a non-negative score and the ranks and scores are considered for making the shortlist.
The upper limit for the number of applicants to be shortlisted as per RC for AC-1,2,3, and 5
Category | Upper Limit per ACRC 1 |
General | 100 |
NC-OBC | 57 |
SC | 32 |
ST | 16 |
PwD | 6 |
The upper limit for the number of applicants to be shortlisted as per RC for AC-4
Category | Upper Limit per ACRC 2 |
General | 150 |
NC-OBC | 85 |
SC | 48 |
ST | 24 |
PwD | 9 |
Criteria 1 – Percentile of VRC, QA, DILR and overall must not be lower than the percentile mentioned in the table above (Minimum CAT 2020 cut offs).
Criteria 2 – Average of percentages should be more than minimum cut off (specific to the category and stream in the table below).
Average of percentages=P= marks obtained in 10th and 12th standard examination.
Minimum cutoff for P across different disciplines and categories
Stream in 12th | General-EWS | NC-OBC | SC | ST | PWD (general, SC, NC-OBC) | PWD (ST) |
Science | 80 | 75 | 70 | 65 | 70 | 65 |
Commerce | 77 | 72 | 67 | 62 | 67 | 62 |
Arts and Humanities | 75 | 70 | 64 | 59 | 64 | 59 |
Criteria 3 – the percentage of marks obtained in the Bachelor’s degree must be greater or equal to the minimum cut off percentage.
Criteria 4 – Total percentile ≥ 80, QA percentile ≥ 70, DILR percentile ≥ 70 and VRC percentile ≥ 70
Criteria 5 – Percentage ≥ 80 (Science), 77 (Commerce), 75 (Arts/Humanities), where P is the average of the percentages of marks scored in the 10th and 12th std. Examinations.
Final Selection
In this stage selection will be strictly based on shortlisting done for each category and on the basis of final composite score (FCS), FCS will be computed as follows:
FCS = PIF * Normalised PI Score + AWTF * Normalised AWT Score + CATF_FCS * Normalised CAT Score + ARF_FCS * AR
Note- Due to COVID-19 situation IIM Ahmedabad may modify the final selection criteria depending upon the time during WAT-PI in 2021.
