Close to 52% of the students in the TISS MA-HRM program come from different backgrounds like commerce, Arts, Psychology and Science. And the remaining 50% of the students are from an engineering background.
Around 60% of the students have prior experience in the range from 0-11 months. 5% of the students have experience ranging from 12-23 months.12% with 24-35 months. 20% with more than 35 months. Candidates need to do TISSNET Registration. The TISS entrance exam consists of two distinctive components. The first part is common to all those who apply for TISS. For the MA-HR program, the candidate is tested on the mathematical and technical skills, understanding of society and how it functions. Basic knowledge of economy, business news, current affairs, sociology, psychology. In the GDPI process, the candidate’s intent of joining the course is gauged, whether the candidate is interested in joining the course. The interview tests the presence of mind of the candidate.
Candidates admitted to the institute are expected to have a balance between academic achievements, social sensitivity and a perspective on how human resources add value to the organizations. And on a broader perspective, candidates are expected to have an understanding of organizations as social systems.
After graduating from TISS, students work in different profiles in the HR sector in various organizations. The role also depends on the prior experience of the candidate. For example, a student with more than 3.5-4 years of experience would be working in the consulting industry.
