# CAT Questions | CAT Geometry Questions | Trigonometry

## IMPORTANCE OF THIS TOPIC IN THE VARIOUS EXAMINATIONS

Trigonometry- Quantitative Aptitude is an important topic when it comes to MBA Entrance exams. This is one of the most important aspects of Quantitative Aptitude. The reason why this is being included as a sub-topic under Quantitative Aptitude is it helps students work out basic concepts in geometry and also complex angles and dimensions in relatively little time. Since the last few years, especially from 2017, very few geometry aptitude questions have been coming in every entrance exam. Nevertheless, it is good to go prepared.

Trigonometry concepts vary a lot. CAT Geometry Questions from Trigonometry can vary from heights and distances to concepts of identities.

## Basic concepts of Trigonometry

1. Specific functions of angles and their applications to calculations. For e.g. sine (sin), cosine (cos), tangent (tan), cotangent (cot), secant (sec) and cosecant (csc)

2. Questions related to height & distance using pythagoras theorem.

3. Product-to-sums & vice-versa.

4. Trigonometric identities & even odd identities.

5. Learning about the six basic trigonometric ratios. The key is that each trigonometric function becomes periodic which means that values repeat in equal trends

66. Finding the Unit Circle – For e.g. Each point (X, Y) on a circle gives values of cosine and sine of the corresponding angle

7. Finding Pythagorean identities. For e.g. When applied to the unit circle, we get a trio of the useful trigonometric function

## CAT Questions | CAT Geometry: Trigonometry

1. The number of the real roots of the equation 2cos(x(x + 1)) = 2x + 2-x is? (CAT 2019 Slot 1)

## How to deal with Trigonometry preparation

### LEVEL 1

1. Students are supposed to have basic knowledge of trigonometry concepts from MBAP CAT E Book (Concept Theory) study material
2. They should have a fast calculation mindset
3. The first step is to clear all your basics. Take help of live lectures. Solve questions from MBAP CAT E Book (Practice Questions).
4. 4When it comes to CAT Geometry Questions from trigonometry, students should have the skill to identify which identity is been needed to solve the problems on geometry. Follow lecture notes.

### LEVEL 2

1. Domain and range are an important part of trigonometric function, so to remember it plot these graphs by on your own
2. Inverse trigonometry may be tough for the first time, but more and more practice make it easy. Trigonometry questions focus a lot on inverse trigonometry
3. Always try to solve trigonometry questions using a different approach and also go through MBAP Topic wise Previous Year CAT Question
4. Trigonometry concepts starts with the triangles .so keep in your mind that behind every question there is a triangle
5. If you are going for an objective approach then you can put Theta is equal to 0 degrees, 30 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees, 90 degrees, but always keep in your mind that it is not a hard and fast rule which is always to be true

### LEVEL 3

Students need to look into trigonometry problems that use multiple concepts to find the solution. Try to answer trigonometry questions from the advanced level of previous cat papers, mock tests, and materials. Finish all the concepts examples and questions given in the NCERT maths book along with miscellaneous exercises. Referring to algebra books by SK Goyal and RD Sharma is very helpful but it is suggested to go through any one of these books simply to avoid confusion. Trigonometry concepts with tons of solved examples and diagrams make the problems easy for a candidate and they can perform better. Reference books by a few authors are helpful but a candidate should choose that totally based upon his standards. Taking too much time for advanced questions will be harmful to crack the exam. Finally, students need to practice as many questions as they can to get a hold of the concepts and find solutions fast. Practice will always help a candidate to crack the trigonometry questions

#### Words From Our Students

Nihar Mehta
Calls from IIMs, SPJIMR & MDI
During my CAT preparation, I enrolled at MBA Pathshala for classroom coaching. Abhijit Sir & Haider Sir guided me through the process of planning & executing the strategies I had to use to succeed in the test. I received regular feedback on my progress during the GD and PI preparations after CAT. I received calls from IIMs, SPJIMR, and MDI. MBAP played a huge role in this, and I cannot thank them enough for their efforts.

Calls from IIM I, S, and all New And Baby IIM's.
MBAP is a great place to prepare for MBA-CET, CAT, and CMAT, and the faculty are unbeatable. Most importantly, they pay personal attention to each student. Most faculty members come from IIMs. One-on-one interaction helped me improve as the exams approached, as well as get calls from IIMs I, S, and all New and Baby IIMs. Interview sessions were very beneficial for me to convert IIM S.
Sanskriti Reja
Calls from IIMs, XLRI, XIMB
I am glad I chose MBA Pathshala for my MBA coaching. The faculty here is excellent and very competent. If I had any questions or needed extra classes, they always gave me one. I got through my GD-PIs too after the exams with their help. Thanks to MBAP, I was able to pass CAT and other entrance exams. Among others, I received calls from XLRI, XIMB, and IIMs. A few of the colleges I've converted are KJ Somaiya, TAPMI, IIM Sambalpur, and IIM Sirmaur.
Parth Kanakia
Converted SPJIMR
MBAP prepared me for GD, WAT, and PI. Abhijit Singh, Haider, and other MBAP faculty provided excellent training. Good knowledge was imparted from the very beginning. Regular mock interviews were conducted. As a former SPJIMR, I would recommend students to join MBAP.

Calls from IIM-A/B/C & SNAP 98.12%ile
Coaching offers me personalized attention and a competitive environment. Because the preparation was so rigorous, I eventually began to perform at my best. The mock interviews/GD/WATs were conducted by anonymous panels, and it really boosted my confidence. Although I got a call from SCMHRD (SNAP-98.12), Abhijeet sir felt that I should try again and aim for IIM-A/B/C. It has been your pleasure to have been your mentor.

You will get good support from the faculty until you get into a B-School. The shortcut techniques you will learn will be extremely useful. You will be able to resolve doubts at any time. If you plan on taking CAT CET or any other entrance exam, go for MBA Pathshala. With the help of MBAP tutors, I received a call from IMT Ghaziabad.
Yash Dandavate
GMAT Score - 660
GMAT prep with MBAP was the best I've ever experienced. With Rohan Kulkarni Sir's Verbal Guidance, I scored 85th percentile in my GMAT exam as I was very weak in English. I always found Haider Sir and Abhijeet to answer my questions and to develop strategies and shortcuts to tackle GMAT problems for me. MBAP is a great option for GMAT and CAT prep.
