Selection Process for IIM Kozhikode

The following stages are followed for the selection process.

Stage 1

While filling the CAT form, if the candidate had chosen the option for IIM K then the college will determine if they fill the minimum criteria. These candidates are sent an email and asked to register online. Those who have registered move on to the next stage

Stage 2

In this stage the diversity in the form of gender, CAT score and the overall academic performance is used to prepare the shortlist along with the work experience. This final score is called the Aggregate Index Score (AIS). Separate lists for separate categories are prepared.

Changes in AIS Computation

As compared to 2020 admissions, IIM Kozhikode has made changes in computing the AIS. This year, addition of work experience in AIS computation is added. It will be given 5 percent weightage by IIM Kozhikode in shortlisting candidates. Moreover, the weightage of each component has also been changed. The weightage of 10th score has been reduced by 5 percent, rest everything remaining the same.

Let us look at each component of Aggregate Index Score (AIS)-

CAT 2020 Index Score – From the three sections, the scaled scores of CAT will be considered by IIM Kozhikode to calculate the CAT Index Score. This component will carry weightage of 45 percent as per the admission criteria of IIM Kozhikode 2021.

Class X Percentage Score – The aggregate marks of all subjects obtained by candidates and mentioned in the marks sheet or grade sheet will be used to calculate the class X percentage score. The weightage will be 25 percent. The board will not be considered.

Final calculation = Adjusted score*30

Class XII Percentage Score – The percentage of marks obtained by candidates in HSC/Class XII/Equivalent/Diploma would be calculated on the basis of aggregate marks of all subjects. The weightage given to this component as per IIM Kozhikode 2021 admission criteria remains the same as last year that is 15 percent.

Academic Diversity/Gender Score – IIM Kozhikode considers gender/academic diversity at the time of admissions. Note that only female candidates will be considered eligible for gender diversity. Whereas for academic diversity, candidates who have completed or are pursuing their bachelor’s or equivalent in a discipline other than engineering/technology will be eligible by IIM Kozhikode.

Work Experience Score – This year for 2021 admissions, IIM Kozhikode has added work experience component in AIS computation. Weightage will be 5 percent and the computation will be done as follows-

Work Experience Score = 5x/36, if 6 =< x =< 36 = 0, if x < 6 or x > 36.

Note – The candidates’ short-list for Stage 2 (PI) will be made available on the IIM Kozhikode website around the last week of January 2021. The interview call letters, venue details, etcetera will be made available on the official website.

Stage 3

I joined the classroom coaching programme at MBA Pathshala for my CAT preparation. Since the very beginning, Abhijit Sir & Haider Sir guided me in terms of the strategy & the approach required in order to fare well in the exam. I wanted to join a coaching where I can get personalised attention and competitive environment. I got both in MBAP. All the preparation was so rigorous that I eventually started giving my best. They conducted mock interviews/GD/WAT with anonymous panels and trust me it was such a confidence booster. I got a call from SCMHRD (SNAP-98.12) However I always wanted to go for IIM and Abhijeet sir felt that and he convinced me to try again and aim for IIM-A/B/C. Here I am back under his mentorship again. In short give your best and they will bring the best out of you. P.S- I'm a working individual. If I can do it then anybody can. Thank you for being such a great mentors.

I joined MBAP for GMAT prep and my experience with them was really amazing, from the first day itself the faculties gave personal attention to each student and made sure each student had their own personalised GMAT and CAT prep plans. The Verbal faculty Rohan Kulkarni Sir was amazing, I was very weak in English and verbal section, but through his guidance I scored a V38 (85th percentile) in my GMAT exam. The Quant faculties Abhijeet and Haider Sir helped me develop strategies and short cuts to approach GMAT problems and we're always available for my doubts. Overall it was a great experience and I would reccomend MBAP to everyone for GMAT and CAT prep
