3. Cost of living
Mumbai is an expensive city and the cost of living here is on the higher end. This is often another reason why several out station students don’t apply for the NMAT exam. This factor combined with the high fees of NMIMS discourages students to opt for NMIMS.
Focusing on practical knowledge and experiential learning, NMIMS offers a dynamic curriculum. It has adopted the case-based method to provide real-life examples and knowledge to students. A distinguished faculty and interaction with industry experts provide personalized knowledge and training. The smart classrooms, wi-fi enabled campus, and well- equipped library aid in the learning process. There are several guest lectures organized and there is the ease of organizing these as the campus is very well situated in the heart of Mumbai.
The current fees of NMIMS are INR 18.5 lacs for the tuition and INR 5 lacs for boarding and lodging. The hostel fees are charged for students coming from outside of Mumbai. This brings the fees to a total of INR 22.5 lacs. The placements are decent and are usually around INR 18 LPA. Hence, it can be concluded that the ROI or return on an investment after NMIMS is good and should be considered while making a decision. The return on investment refers to the number of years that a student can expect to earn the investment made in MBA as fees and start saving as their earnings.
NMIMS has a great placement record with the average salary in 2020 records being INR 18.33 LPA. Apart from this, one of the deciding factors for joining any b- school is the alumni network. NMIMS has a strong alumni network. Also, a lot of case study competitions are invited to the college which provide learning opportunities as well as pre-placement interviews for internships and final placements. The college also has an approach to equip students with upcoming subjects for example learning a subject from the analytics field is mandatory for all.
Famous alumni of NMIMS comprise John Abraham, Bollywood actor; Richa Kar, CEO of Zivame; Vikas Behl, Bollywood director and Siddharth Sood, founder of Wildcraft. There is an emphasis on motivating students through guest lectures with notable figures such as Raghu Iyer, Shashi Tharoor, and Kiran Bedi. Students receive several opportunities to showcase their talent and also learn in the process by being a part of several clubs and committees and group projects.
Campus life at NMIMS is a luxury. It is located in the heart of Mumbai, the financial centre and economic powerhouse, and so attracts good companies for placements and summer internships. The other campuses are also located in prominent cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad. The Mumbai campus is beautiful and huge. There are several famous tourist spots and the chance to explore Mumbai.
In conclusion, NMIMS is a great option to pursue your MBA journey, especially if you get a chance to get admitted to PGDM Core or PGDM HR programs which are the highlights of NMIMS as an institute. It has proven its mettle over the years in giving ample growth opportunities and placement opportunities to students. Apart from this, the infrastructure, campus life, and faculty expertise offered are the best among b-schools. So, the reasons for not attempting NMAT should be overlooked as NMAT exam is towards the easier side as compared to other b-school entrance exams.
