The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) offers fifty-two-degree programs from its Mumbai, Guwahati, Hyderabad and Tujlapur campuses. Candidates can apply for at most of 3 programs across any two of the campuses indicating the order of preference. The TISS examination is conducted to shortlist the candidates to stage-2. The shortlisting process depends on the score obtained by the candidates. The test score obtained by the candidate is valid for securing admission into TISS campuses for the only current academic year.

Candidates applying for the upcoming batch for the Regular Post Graduate Degree programmes of TISS have to take the TISS National Entrance Test (TISSNET). TISSNET exam is likely to be conducted as a computer-based test (CBT) during the second week of January. TISSMAT is the new postgraduate management entrance test of TISS. TISSMAT will be conducted in addition to the TISSNET. The exam will be conducted immediately after TISSNET. Candidates who are applying to the MA (HRM & LR)/ ODCL courses at TISS Mumbai will have to first appear for the TISSNET exam and post that, the students have to appear for the TISSMAT exam. The scores of TISSMAT will be considered in the final selection process.
